The Heat is On!
Hey Gentle Reader,
Hope you are keeping cool if you're in the eastern part of Canada or the US. Record-breaking heat-wave everywhere. 104F today in Toronto with talks of 109F on Wednesday. Won't be "chilly" until the weekend when we're back to the 80's.
The Queen and Prince Phillip are in town today finishing their Canadian tour. I actually watched her motorcade go by my window. A group of Shriners were waiting for the bus and all waved madly when her car passed by their group. Adorable!!
Well the HEAT is ON not only outside but for my goals too (you KNEW I would tie them in together right?) Approximately 6 weeks until my birthday (CAKE!) which isn't a lot of time to lose 10 lbs. I won't go on a starvation diet or do anything extreme since I want this final amount of weight to stay off. Plus over the years I've done all that including the Scarsdale diet (one lb a day for 10 days - ACK!) Weight Watchers was the only healthy plan that I have ever used that worked well.
Sometimes it is better to have a goal to accomplish over 6 to 8 weeks. Enough days not to feel rushed but also not too many that you can let things slide a bit. That false sense of security that you have ALL the time in the world. While some goals give us deadlines on their own (the boss, arrival of the stork, etc.), it is equally positive to set your OWN date for crossing the finish line (with a reward built in there too!).
What is your summertime goal? I wanna know!
Linda
