Persistent or Stubborn - Your Call!
Howdy Gentle Reader,
Monday is here after a long and lovely weekend. Adding up Canada Day, PRIDE, July 4th, AND the Queen visiting Toronto - well lots of socializing going on. Facebook in the real world! Who'd a thunk-it!
Still waiting for that iPhone 4 to arrive in the big city. A few pals have suggested that I get the iPhone 3 instead (HUGE sales now by the way - Best Buy - half price!) but I say nooooo. Monkey wants the 4, Monkey waits for the 4.
I've never been one for wanting or accepting substitutes. I'm usually an all or nothing kind of gal. That's the LEO in me. I like what I like and really don't enjoy wishing I had something else because I didn't wait patiently for the thing that I truly desired. Yes, that means people too.
That took years of learning though!
Same with my goals. I totally get how difficult it is to resist that chocolate donut at the staff meeting when it's there smiling at you - maybe even winking! Sassy donut. Versus wanting to be 20 lbs slimmer by your birthday - which is waaaaaaaaay over there *squints in the distance*. That's me today. I stared at those treats this morning and then looked away. I do want to be slimmer for my birthday (yes 60 lbs down instead of 50 - where I'm at now). Still have 6 full weeks to accomplish that task and I will do it! Mostly because I just told you.
Experience tells me that I can either do one or the other. Enjoy those lovely treats and not feel one second of guilt OR avoid them, make healthier choices, and smile when the scale shows me the number I want. Sometimes (if you're under 15) you CAN do both but after 30, um...not so much! (note to teenagers, I was once skinny too AND could eat anything and not gain an ounce. Just a heads-up from this middle-aged cat lady!)
Same with the iPhone 4. I'll wait it out. I know that purchasing anything else won't give me the same thrill as owning the real deal. Yes, I realize that by buying something today WOULD $ave me money AND I would be up and running by this evening. However, I would eventually have the "if only" blues.
I like to keep my blues for painting!
Until Tuesday.
Linda
