Laughter IS the BEST medicine - truly!

Hiya Gentle Reader,

Chillums here in Toronto - sunny but only around 10C this morning (that's Canadian for put yer hoodie on!).  Beautiful day still and it looks fabulous right through the weekend (though MUCH hotter).

One of my new things that I like to do is go to comedy clubs.  Just to relax in the audience and laugh my converse off.  This is a regular event now so I am getting to know comics by their names and schedules (love my Facebook friends - wonderful way to stay connected to the art world!).

I feel my own sense of humour is pretty wacky but I leave the big stuff to the pro's.  Lately I have been surrounding myself with lots of artsy pals.  Everyone will agree that comedy is definitely a creative gift!  There are so many talented comics out there and they would love your support!

One of the fab things about attending open mic nights is that you get a lovely combination of professionals mixed in with newbies.  More power to those people who shake as they walk towards the stage and deliver their routine.  I applaud them all!  Perhaps many have "perform at an open mic night" on their list of extreme goals! Just saying.

I like keeping a selection of funny dvds nearby.  Anything with Tina Fey, Steve Carell, or Will Ferrell. Plus silent classics starting Buster Keaton or Harold Lloyd.  Timeless and universal.  I have my favourite books too -

"A Trilogy of Performances: My Boyfriend's Back and There's Gonna Be Laundry; The Cycle Continues; Wedding Bell Hell" by Sandra Shamas makes me laugh so much that even walking near the bookshelf makes me grin. Truly! Get it if you don't have it already.

Am also a big fan of Peanuts and Get Fuzzy.  www.comics.com has them all!

What or who makes YOU laugh? Let's share!

Tomorrow I will be enjoying Canada Day (and working on getting back online at home) so we'll catch up on Friday July 2,

Linda
