Monkey Around
Hey there Gentle Reader,
Thursday and the weather is doing the rain dance. The flowers are smiling. My hair is laughing but that's a whole other area - appointment tomorrow!
Even when we're no longer wearing short pants or eating Oreo's for dinner (ok, bad example, mmmm Oreo's), we need to have fun in our regular routine. Every day. Not just for summer vacation or even the weekends.
The sad thing is that some people believe, REALLY believe that only children should have fun. Or pets. Can you imagine if our beloved cats, or dogs, or birds stopped playing after their first year? Then they just waited for us to get home, ate, slept, and then started the next day the same way? PetSmart would go under! No more need for frisbees or catnip mice!
What's the point of NOT having fun? That's just it. There isn't any.
We need to play in order to grow mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Artists play every single day! Creativity thrives on fun and play. Now you know why I paint and take photos!
Starting today, I want you to promise yourself that you will do something silly or playful every day this week. Maybe bring your point and shoot camera to work and take photos along the way. Do you really see all the details during your morning commute or is your only focus to get coffee? How about trying a bit of both?
You know how much I love the dollar store. They have entire aisles devoted to playtime! If you can get over to one at lunch, why not pick up a superhero's notebook and silly pen to take minutes at your next meeting. Would be entertaining for staff too!
Add a cupcake to your lunch tomorrow. Or buy some Kool-aid and make popsicles. Keep a small bowl of marbles on your desk. They look great and you can play with them too. Reconnect with your childhood OR like those who never left their early days (*waves*), continue as you were!
Until Friday!

We could all use some more playtime, I know I could. =) The notebook/pen idea made me feel kind of giddy inside...that would be pretty cute.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
