Sugar is my Kryptonite

Hey there Gentle Reader,

Happy Victoria Day if you're in Canada! Amazing sun and HOT morning in the big city.  Heat warning too.  Pretty wild since we've barely had Spring.  Coffee is ready and I can make tea too.

The challenge for me when I'm on vacation is staying awaaaay from the cookie jar.  Ok, truth be known, I am the one FILLING the jar with baked goodies.  Like last night - oatmeal cinnamon raisin chocolate chunk cookies. ACK!!!

Ok so today being Monday and all, we're back on track with the healthy eating.  So easy to slip after a few days of overindulging - especially when you have time off AND the computer is so close to the kitchen.

Sugar has always been my Kryptonite.  From the early days in the late 60's of walking to Gill's Groceria to get my fill of penny candy (a dime went far in those days!), to becoming a pop drinker later on (thankfully that's over!), to a double-double fan as an adult (gone too - whew).  However, I still have a weakness for desserts and all things COOKIE!  I didn't want flour in the house for awhile as it was just the one ingredient missing from plate of "fresh from the oven" treats.  Guess who bought flour? Sigh.

However, I am loving feeling healthier, being slim (again) and having energy (not the sugar kind!).  With the warmer weather HERE now, that helps a lot!  I am so used to hiding under t-shirts and sweaters so this is encouraging me to stay true to my health plan.  No where to hide!

We all have that one vice that seems to sneak in now and then and tries to derail us from our goals.   Sugar is always going to be out there for me.  Trust me, when you're trying to stay away from the stuff, it is EVERYWHERE - convenience stores, grocery, malls, and even people knock on your door to try to sell you some - Guides, Scouts, and assorted charities.  Co-workers have it in the office.  Your lovely guests serve it at dinner parties.  Your bestest pal has some in her purse for "shopping emergencies".... (that is why she is my bestest pal!)

Today's homework is to recognize that one area that seems to be more challenging than others when it comes to achieving your goals and accept that sometimes you WILL give into it.  Doesn't make you a bad person, just a human one!

Until Tuesday!

Linda
