Sunny Side of the Street!

Hey there Gentle Reader,

How's your Monday so far? Great I hope! If not, well we're that much closer to Tuesday (and already there in some parts of the world!)

Sometimes when I visit my family, I like to look at childhood photos.  The doggies Sandy (at age 7 - a Christmas puppy!) and later Jody at age 15. I miss having a dog in my life but am very happy with kitty cats.  Plus I don't have the lifestyle where I could be take my puppy everywhere or be around him as much as I would want to be.  Maybe for retirement!

While I didn't have the easiest of childhoods (well we can't all have giggles and rainbows right?) but I've always been an optimist. Even before I knew what the word meant.   I figured it was part Shirley Temple's tap dancing, part smiley faces, and the last bit rocket popsicles (or something equally yummy)!  Things that gave you a big goofy grin.  As a kid, I used to have the stray kitties follow me home (I loved it, my Mom, not so much), spent hours and hours on my mustang bike, and took my allowance to Gill's Groceria every Saturday for a small bag of penny candy (pixie stix, blue whales, jujubes, caramels, and Sweet-tarts!) Oh and Pop Shoppe pop (lime) and Lucky Elephant popcorn or Crackerjack.  Yes, Weight Watchers was definitely in my future AND a great dentist!

Even today when I was walking home, I kept crossing the street to follow the sun.  Mostly because it is c-c-cold but I am attracted to bright light.  It's connected to my horoscope (Leo), I was a summer baby, and I like it in people too!

Sure, I have my days when I'm blue, out of sorts, and pretty cranky. Even in those moments, I tend to want to listen to upbeat music, read positive books, and watch comedy shows.  I know I'm lucky in that it doesn't take much for me to get back to smiling.  Believe me, I very grateful for it.  I have enough family and friends who deal with depression on a regular basis for me to be appreciative of my health and my life.

Well I'm not sure what the topic was today Gentle Reader except I feel like a dish of vanilla ice-cream and an orange balloon...(listen to singer Jane Olivor for the answer)
