Will She, Won't She

Hey Gentle Reader,

Can you  believe we're at the end of the week already?  Been a long one for me.  How was your last 5 days? Hopefully groovy!

Well this whole decision to get a Blackberry, NOT get a Blackberry has me in a strange place.  Usually I embrace technology and would happily skip (yes...skip) to my local Rogers, or Bell, or Best Buy and pounce on the latest gadget.  Most likely with the most bells and whistles (LEO in da Den!).  However, NOT having a Blackberry for the past many weeks has been an interesting experiment.

I did have one but the policy changed at work so it was returned.

Oh sure, for the first few weeks I was jonesing, jonesing BAD to email someone, ANYONE, about something, ANYTHING.  I even caught myself holding my iPod as a Blackberry one afternoon.  Like I was going to text the Black Eyed Peas or Beyonce.  Yeah. Seriously,

Then I went through the "what if SHE/HE/THEY are trying to reach me!!!?" phase when I was moving from points A to B.  Goodness - UNREACHABLE!!!!

The next stage was the "I have to check my email A LOT" to see if there are any messages on fire (or not). The emails were no more than the norm.  Hmpf.

Finally where I am now...I feel like watching a movie tonight and will check email tomorrow.

All in a span of 6 weeks or so.

Remember when only doctors carried pagers and we knew that when they got a page, it probably WAS a life or death situation.  No one had cell phones back then (and by back then I mean the mid 1980's).  Then as cell phones became sleeker, less expensive, and more available, business people started moving towards them.  Eventually most people had a cell phone but this was before text messaging, live chats, googlemaps, APP's, etc.

Now we are so connected that our planet has become much smaller.  The general public are the best journalists as they record videos and messages about what is happening around them.  Usually faster (Twitter, Youtube, Facebook) than most news sites.

However, here I sit without cell phone. No way to read my email.  My Facebook. Me. The chatty monkey. Nada.  Oh I check them out at Best Buy about once a week.  Try out the keyboards and check the screen size but then I always walk away.  Yeah the cost is a huge factor.  I mean to get it ALL I'm looking at $100 or so a month.  I could get a prepaid phone but know I would end up with lots of additional costs for going over all the limits.

So, I'm still thinking about it.  I am leaning towards a Blackberry but we'll see. The jury is still out on this one.

Until Saturday, stay happy!

Linda
