Seriously

Hiya Gentle Reader,

SUN-day and the living is good.  How have you been? Great weekend? Hope so! So who wants a latte?

Well.....I have been loving life lately as I always tell YOU to do but have been indulging a bit much in the YUM department.   Winter has always been a challenge for me - hibernating, comfort food, etc. Now you're saying but HEY, we're in Spring now? Yes, I know BUT this is kind of the last bit of the season! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

So tomorrow (yes a MONDAY, I can see you grinning!), I have a new goal in mind.  This is the HELLO SUMMER goal.  To not only lose those few extra lbs that I have gained over the last two months BUT an additional 5 lbs as a buffer zone.  Also to tone up for the warmer weather.  You can't hide very well in a t-shirt and shorts!

First thing I like to do is print out a couple of calendars.  If you use a calendar on your computer that's great. If not, you can always write on a paper one.   I like this site for creating calendars: http://www.printablecalendar.ca/  I like to always give my goals a reasonable timeframe but not too liberal.  Otherwise you can tend to let things slip thinking you have a lot of time and then it's a mad rush to the end. That never works out well in the long run.  The journey is as rewarding as the outcome!

It really does help to stay focused when you do have a date in mind.  A roving date or a generic - "some time this year" gives you too much freedom to do everything BUT accomplish the goal you have written down.  Been there, done that - more than once!

So for my enhanced health goal, I am picking June 12, 2010 as my goal day.  That's approximately 2 months from tomorrow.  Gives me time to lose the extra lbs and tone up my legs and arms.  Have lots equipment at home so I'm lucky there (no need to join the Y).

When I reach that goal, I will set one for the summer.  Sometimes it is easier to break up goals into a few phases back to back.  The time-frame may be the same (lose 50 lbs in one year) BUT in smaller sections, it is more manageable. As an added bonus, you get to celebrate every time you finish part of the bigger goal. That is going to feel great!

So, what is your new "get serious" goal?  I do want to know!

Linda
