Goal-arama!
Hey there!
FRIDAY and the coffee and tea is ready - your choice! Me? A HUGE mug of coffee. My first mug is in my Chartreuse Monkey mug that my pal Franshine made for me (Yes, I do call her this) and the second one is usually in my Peace, Love, Coffee JUMBO-TRON mug from my friend Tricia aka Bella. No one in my world gets by with just one name! That's SO normal which just isn't part of Monkey's world!
Here we go!!
Friday is a wonderful day of the week but not entirely for the reasons you're probably thinking and now shouting at the montior (yes, I can hear you....I have noted beer, napping, and nachos on my list).
Today is when you can plan for some of those projects to do on the weekend (or at least complete some part of them - many of the bigger goals can take many stages to finish). Always good for your motivation to have at least one goal that you will cross off your list before Monday morning. Otherwise you will start to feel guilty for all the things you feel you SHOULD be doing and life will start feeling like Ground Hog Day (the movie with Bill Murray). Your projects are in limbo where they are never completed but just float from day to day. Not a good habit for a lot of reasons.
As humans we love to move forward - physically, emotonally, and mentally! Try running a block backwards and unless you're 5 years old (and if you ARE, BRAVO/BRAVA for reading this blog and setting goals, you future Prime Minister you!), it doesn't feel comfortable. We are naturally drawn to wanting our days to get better and better. More positive days makes for a happier life!
This weekend I have some books that I have started but want to finish reading (some are library books too). Also more painting (w00t!), organizing (triple w00t!!) and a movie tucked in there too. Plus lots of play time with the kid-tens. I did have my winter coat out of sight, out of mind but today - WHOA - The Return of Winter (also known as SPRING IN CANADA).
I did a major overhaul of the main closet last weekend and recycled two huge bags of paper, clothing, and other items. This weekend, my dresser gets a big review! As we have discussed before, I have this real love-unlove thang going on with paper. Sometimes (ok MOST times) it ends up tucked in with my socks (receipts), or t-shirts (photography magazines - WTH?!!), or I devote an entire drawer to documents, IT articles, photos, and clippings (not good Gentle Reader, not good).
My attitude of late has been to read the article right away and then shred. I will tear out magazine pages but only if there is a picture of a particular item that I want to purchase. I do have a scrapbook of sorts called my Inspiration Book where I would save this kind of picture BUT that's another blog (note to self...Saturday's blog topic is here...) What can overwhelm you is all the magazines, articles, clippings, recorded shows, etc. that you think you MUST see/read. Not so Gentle Reader, no so. A lot of information in magazines is already outdated by the time it is published. The internet is ALWAYS up to date! Try out www.refdesk.com if you want a site that is a one-stop shop for all things knowledgeable AND it is family friendly too (great for homework!!)
Of course I want some R&R in there for your weekend but hey, it's ME, Chartreuse GOAL Monkey. You know us past-procrastinators are the biggest KEENERS when it comes to organizing and completing projects! It makes us happy!
Until Saturday.....
