Happy Was Always My Favourite!

Hey there Gentle Reader,

MMMMONDAY! Somehow saying it like that makes me smile a bit more.  Of course I did have a jumbo coffee already AND won a donut with ROLL UP THE RIM (Canada's favourite lottery!) so today is pretty dang fine.

Painted four more paintings on Sunday.   I am always inspired after visiting artist pals as I did on Sunday (thanks Joey!) so can't wait to get back to my own little studio to create art.  While I do love photography and have for many years, painting is my true passion.  Nothing like playing with all those amazing colours and just having fun.  Who said that finger painting was only for kids?

Everyone should have that one hobby or interest that gets their heart swooning.  Something that will brighten the low times and really highlight the great ones!  I have gardener pals who thrill over the latest seed catalogues (hey buddies, SPRING!!!!!!!!!!), photographer friends who rush out into the sunshine to take wedding portraits and every flower out there, and comic book collectors who are counting down the sleeps until COMICCON 2010.    Yes, my friends are a diverse bunch and I love it (and them!)

I always find it fascinating that the favourite hobby you had as a child tends to resurface as you get older.  Your marble collecting shows up as a glass art collecting fan (guilty!), your days at the high school newspaper now having you doing a daily blog, and your love of animals has you volunteering at the zoo or a local animal shelter (standing ovation!!!!).

It is so important to be in touch with that part of your life that makes YOU feel like YOU!  As we get older, society (those THEY people again) seem to have rules as to what is appropriate attire or behaviour or language for those of us over 21.   I don't listen to THEM very much.   If you saw how I dressed (a'la Cyndi Lauper), or the way I act EVERYWHERE, well you would see just how much power I give those rules. Nada.  As I get older, I just can't seem to hear them anymore.  Funny how that happens huh?

Today I want you to think back when your days were spent colouring in those jumbo colouring books, or riding your bike around the park, or when you couldn't wait to fly that new bat kite (remember those?!)  Do kids even fly kites anymore??  Try to get in touch with that little happy-go-lucky bubble-gum chomping soul.

Until Tuesday!

Linda
