Top O' The Monkey to Ya!

Happy Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Yes, I am wearing green (I AM Chartreuse Monkey don't ya know!) and hoping the sun is shining in your cozy part of the planet.

Every once in awhile it is good to take inventory of our life.  Not just of our stuff (though that's important too) but of our relationships, health, finances, and other non-tangible things.  It is so easy to take many for granted and not really see what is working or not working in your life.  We can easily get into a rut and the winter season is the perfect environment for hibernating and just snoozing for a few months.

So, grab that coffee or tea and your journal and a pen.  Ready? Ok, let's go....

Stuff beautiful stuff.  Now is the PERFECT time to go through the hall closet, your dresser drawers and bedroom closet to change the seasonal clothes over (ok if you're in Toronto, you know that I am IGNORING that chance of snow next week...onwards to Spring and tulips!)  Sweaters to be hand washed or taken to the dry cleaners and put away under the bed, to the top of the bedroom closet or anywhere else you may have space to store winter clothes away.  I love taking a few scented dryer sheets and placing them in the closets to get that Spring-like smell - chases away that long winter!  Just pop one or two sheets through the top of a spare hanger. Instant and easy air-freshener!

While you are going through your clothes, take your journal or a notepad and jot down suggestions for a few new spring items to jazz up your wardrobe.  Perhaps a beautiful sunflower scarf, a floral bag, or even some rainbow socks!  Something that shouts out that the season has changed for the brighter and better!

Finances - time to rev up that budget of yours (and if you don't have a budget this could be eye-opening!).  Always good to question your current spending habits to see if some purchases are out of habit and not necessarily out of need or even want.  Again, if we don't review these sorts of things now and then, they can become habit for habit's sake.  Maybe this is the time to add a few dollars each week for a couple of gerbera daisies (like I did!) to add a splash of colour to your workplace or home.  Right now I have daisies in bright pink, coral pink, and red!

Relationships, ah yes. The tricky part. Well sometimes we do tend to hang onto friendships out of habit or history or convenience.  However, if we are being honest here, isn't quality always better than quantity?   We've chatted before about going through your address book and letting those friendships go that no longer make us happy.  Also adding some new ones that bring us joy!  Life does change all the time and that's the only part that IS predicable about it! So appreciate all in your world today and trust that the universe will provide for the future.

More tomorrow. Happy organizing!

Linda
