A for Effort!
Hi ya,
Sunday and the weekend is just flying by! Indulged a wee bit too much in the yummy treats department so back on the WW wagon tomorrow. Every once in awhile I find myself straying for a few days until the warning light flashes and I become mindful of my actions. JUST had that wake-up call. So.....
That's just human though. We accomplish a goal, move on to the next one and can lose track of those goals that require maintenance - like keeping your weight at a healthy level. Some require a lifetime of attention. This is one of those times.
However, the BIGGEST pat on the back comes from taking that first step. Not by writing all those lists - though VERY important - but making that initial move. Whether it is picking up the phone, writing that letter, or sending in that application. Those actions are needed to take your amazing dreams into reality. We all know of friends who have the ultimate movie script in their bottom drawer, or those songs in their head that win that Grammy but if no action is attached to it, then the dreams will eventually fade. Nothing is truly sadder than what might have been.
We love things to be easy-peasy and black and white. Accomplish a task on the list, cross it off, move to the next one. Like your holiday list for gifts. That one can look like scientific map of the universe by the time you finish adding all the details, revising the names, etc. One completed, we can happily toss the list out and enjoy the holidays.
However, those tasks that are ongoing need a bit more effort. Or a variety of ways to complete - just to keep it interesting.
Keep reminding yourself that since you completed it once, you can certainly do it again!
Who says that you can't get a box of gold stars from an office supply store, and reward yourself every time you finish something on your list. Works for teachers AND Weight Watchers. Plus it's fun!!
Tomorrow you'll see me back at the salad bar at lunch and certainly on that bike in the morning.
Been there, done that, will do it again!
