Cold, windy, and rainy here in the big city. Spring is just one week away and I think the weather is just a wee bit early! Shoo rain, shoo!
Don't you find that this winter was especially looooonnnnggggg? I now have Spring Fever and am in organizing mode!!! Here is where one thinks WWHD? (What Would Hellen (Buttigieg) Do?) when it comes to where to start first and how to process everything. First on the agenda - PAPER!
Aww now you know I have a love-UNlove thang going on with paper. Right now looks like a receipt convention is being held in my home. Receipts are hanging out anywhere and everywhere. Drawers, counter top, my purse, pockets, etc. Even the cats are playing with some (seriously, like Mom, like feline).
This weekend is THE time for SPRING FLING 2010 and by FLING, I mean items that no longer work, are current, or bring me joy! There will be lots of shredding over the next two days which I am sure the cats will love to help out! Ahem.
I like starting with counter space or my desk first and then moving to a small drawer (filing cabinet) and then tackling bigger stacks of paper (magazines, etc.)
For clothing, I work through the dresser drawers and then closets. Tossing anything that is ripped, outdated, or doesn't make me happy when I see or wear it. I want to switch over my seasonal items this week too - yes, I have those SPRING blinders on now.....
This week I ordered a great glass frog necklace from my friends Blanche and Guy http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=34024126 - and how about THIS one?? http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?ref=vl_other_1&listing_id=42332203 I tell you, they are so cute and you can hear them say HELLO SPRING!! You SHOULD get one too.
Ok, where were we? Oh yes, organizing for Spring! Sleep deprived kitten momma here!
I tend to have a few boxes of jewelery too that need organizing - earrings mostly. If you don't want one of those earring trees (my cats would only bat it to the moon if I did), you can use a piece of thin fabric if you have pierced earrings and pin those earrings to the fabric. Then keep the fabric in your dresser drawer with your lingerie for easy retrieval.
Watches that need batteries will go in my messenger bag to take to the store. Spring shoes what need new heels will go by the door too. Time to get my leather coat taken in too. Busy weekend!

Way to go with all the decluttering - sounds like you are making great progress. Hey, I got spring fever too on this rainy weekend. Lots of decluttering and organizing. Even though the closets weren't messy, stuff was starting to accumulate. I like to shed as the seasons change too!

Thanks Hellen! Yes, the beauty of living in Ontario (one of the many things) is getting to have 4 very different seasons. I like Spring Cleaning but also enjoy Summer, Fall, and Winter cleaning too. Sometimes I find the less I have in my life, the more I appreciate everything.
You know me with paper too. That area will always keep me on my toes.
