Say Whatcha Mean to Say
Hey there,
How's your Wednesday? Your life? All spiffy I hope! Here's your favourite chair...I'll get the coffee and tea...
I have a BIG question to ask today - do your words match your actions? Do you walkYOUR talk? Or do you have a tendency to respond differently than how you really feel so it will make the other person happy? Well Gentle Reader, I want YOU to be the happy one in this equation.
Being real and authentic doesn't always get the popularity votes with the masses but you'll be able to sleep better at night. I'm not talking about NOT taking the high road when you really have more on your mind (Conan O'Brien was brilliant during the whole Tonight Show fiasco). I want you to be the BEST you that YOU can be! I want your family and friends to get to know you and all your brilliance and not a variation of your true self.
Sure, we all have alter egos (um....hello....Chartreuse Monkey in da house) but we should still be honest with ourselves when responding to others. It can be quite upsetting when you promise to do one thing (for yourself or someone else) but then go in the opposite direction. Telling a pal that you'll help them with that charity cupcake bake sale on Sunday morning is fabulous if you are really doing to assist them. However, pretty lousy if you are only saying it to make them happy at the moment but knowing full well that you are going to cancel at the last minute because you'll be at a house party the night before. I have seen this happen to pals who decided to get friends to help them to move (DON'T DO IT GENTLE READER!!!) and then have only a person or two show up on the day off. *shivers*
You need to be truthful when it comes to making commitments to other - even if you think that your friend won't mind if you don't follow through. EVERYONE minds whether they tell you or not. A movie out for you might be no big deal but what if it is the first night out since your friend went through that break-up and really needs to get out of the apartment?
Please be mindful of your actions and your words. The closer you have them match up, the better your world will be.
Until tomorrow!
Linda
PS. Thank you John Mayer for today's title!
