Countdown to Spring
Hey there,
Whoa! Busy day here in the world of Chartreuse Monkey but I'm here! You know me, always trying to fit a couple of days into one. Thanks for putting on the coffee. Much appreciated!
I have to admit that winter this year has made it challenging to be a sunny monkey every day! Normally I just breeze through the snow and cold because well, I'm Canadian! However, this year, it feels like my first winter ever! Probably because 50 lbs of my natural insulation is gone. That isn't a bad thing at all BUT something I never took into consideration. I was so focused on feeling healthier AND having smaller clothes that it didn't dawn on me that my body temperature had changed too. Lost over 10 inches on my waist and that was where I kept my warmth!
So I am looking for ways to encourage the spring to return sooner than later! Even with the new winter coat, monkey hat, LFM scarf, huge mitts and a bunch of layers, I am still shivering. I do have a distance to get to work and it seems that every street is colder than the last!
For me it is all about colour. Bringing a few gerbera daisies to the office has been amazing. They are inexpensive, bright, and cheery. For me, daisies shout-out SPRING IS HERE! I can't wait to hear that song!
I have a sunshine destination as my screensaver (the winter scenes were making me feel chilled!) and have been wearing various colourful sweaters and tops to work. Picking teal or apple green or purple instead of black or grey.
I miss wearing my converse to work but am confident that the snow won't be around forever, right?!
Also helps to read travel magazines of hot spots and day dream. We've already been through weeks of the icy temps already. Just another 5 weeks or so! Looking through decor and fashion magazines is great too because they are always few seasons ahead of the rest of us.
Even a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice can do a world of good for your soul.
Until tomorrow!!
Linda
