Helping Haiti

Hi there,

Kind of a serious blog now.  Today is the day of the North American telethon for Haiti - Canada for Haiti at 7pm and the Hope for Haiti goes on the air at 8pm.  Truly emotional times.  The earthquake in Haiti was cruel beyond belief.  The devastation and heartbreak is felt around the entire planet.  Tonight is the night where people can donate funds that will go directly to the organizations on the front line in Haiti.  40% of the people in Haiti are children and 10's of 1000's are orphans.  Even more now. Very sad.

Except we hear and see moments of joy coming from this tragedy.  The little 7 year-old boy who was rescued just yesterday.  He gave a bright and cheery smile to all those around him.  A video and photograph that I will never forget.

All the work that Craig Kielburger has done through his organization FREE THE CHILDREN is remarkable, inspiring, and joyful.
http://www.freethechildren.com/ is the link to donate and learn more about this wonderful man and his vision.  Started the organization at age 12!   He has already been to Haiti since the quake and is now back in Toronto on the Canada for Haiti telethon.   Wow.

Canadians are known as the peacekeepers of the world.  We are a very caring and polite country and always ready to help where needed.   I am very proud of my homeland.  If there is a problem, we want to fix it.  When someone is crying, we reach out to comfort.  Need assistance and we're there without question.  We may be a small country but together we are a strong nation of compassionate citizens.

George Clooney's big telethon is on in a few minutes so I'm going to watch too.  Give my support and feel the connection with the rest of the country.  We are very blessed and fortunate to live where we do with all the abundance that goes with it.

Please watch the telethon with me and reach out too.  They need you.

Thank you Gentle Reader, thank you.

Linda
