Good Housekeeping

Hey there,

Sunday and the coffee pot is on.  How has your weekend been so far? Great I hope!

Spring time (and yes Gentle Reader, I know that Spring is sooo far away...sigh) is the usual season for organizing, recycling and major housecleaning.  Kind of clearing out the cobwebs and dust from the winter.  Who says we can't do this kind of organizing every few months instead of once a year?  Less to do each time!

Housekeeping just doesn't have to mean vacuuming and dusting.  It can also be computer housekeeping too.  If your pc or MAC is running slowly, there is a pretty strong chance that it has 100's if not 1000's of photos, songs, or other items that are taking up valuable space on your C drive.  I would highly recommend moving these photos or songs to an external travel drive - under $100 and it has a tremendous amount of space to store years and years of items.  It connects with a USB cable so very easy to retrieve anything when needed.

If you use Facebook, you may want to go through your Fan Pages, or Applications, or even Address book and remove any that you rarely visit or contact.  Makes it so easy to find things later on.  It is all about quality over quantity.  This is a motto that will have you sleeping soundly at night.  You will appreciate all you do have in your life and not be overwhelmed by the volume of things that you really don't need.

Continue with that housekeeping with your paper address book (if you like to kick it up old school like I do - PAPER!)  Please don't automatically save addresses or business cards just out of obligation.  Keep this information if you are in regular contact with the actual people.  The universe is a very wonderful thing - people will come and go throughout your journey in life.  That's the beautiful part - not only does one door close and another open BUT someone may come through it.

Keeping your life simple doesn't have to be complicated.  Just enjoy, save, and use what truly makes you smile and remove or recycle all the rest.    Ask yourself "do I LOVE it?" and if the answer is no, then find someone who does.

Until Monday!

Linda

Great advice...sounds like you are channeling your inner organizer. I never thought of using an external drive for de-cluttering the computer, but it makes so much sense. Thanks for the great tips even an organizer can use!
