What's Your Widget?

Tuesday and the sun is shining in Toronto. Of course the minus bijillion temps are here but who's complaining? Sigh. I miss the REAL sun (this ONE is totally for show only!)
Now that we've kick-started the new year (and YOU have, I KNOW it!), I'm curious about your favourite Widget. You know, that one thing you see in the store or online and you can't help but bring home. Maybe your thing is decor magazines (niiiiice), or scratch lottery tickets (good luck bestest pal-o-mine), or hats (fun and practical in this country!). Perhaps higher priced items make you giddy - a shiny black purse, those gorgeous turquoise earrings, that top 10 hard cover mystery, or Pashmina scarves (oooooh all those FAB colours!!!).
Now Gentle Reader, I bet if you think back to when you were a kid, you will find a very interesting pattern. My love of marbles as a child has grown into a love for collecting glassware now (yay June Pham!) My fascination for all the colours of the rainbow lead me to collect Post-86 Fiesta ware (in ALL the colours!). My love of paper is shown in my obsession for journals, notebooks, and stationery.
Same with pens. Loved them then and REALLY love 'em now. I collect ACME Studio Pens. True, more $$$ than your average BIC but will last a lifetime and makes journal writing even more fun. www.acmestudio.com
You already know that I am a music fanatic and the iPod along with iTunes keeps me smiling. It is just like walking around with your own personal jukebox (and seriously, who didn't want one of those as a kid?!)
Love collecting Converse sneakers in all the colours too. To quote Dale Chihuly "Never Met a Color I Didn't Like."

Listened to CHUM AM as a kid, listen to CHUM FM now. We're talking A LOT of years of loyalty there. Remember CHUM charts? Those were great!!
We all have Widgets. Items that make us grin and our hearts skip a beat. Most of us have more than one. Maybe it is time you treated yourself to one this week!
