Happy Right Now
Hiya,
Great to see you! Cold huh? Sheesh. You'd think it was winter in Canada and...oh yeah. Never mind. Thankfully the kitchen is always warm.
You know, for many years (pull up a chair youngsters, this may take awhile), I was always living in the past or the future. Rarely touched down on the present. The future was all bright and shiny. The past held comfort and stability (only visited the good memories mind you!). The present was something that was a mystery to me. I was always planning all the improvements for my future life, and not really being mindful of my current situation (and all the great things that were going on there).
When I had dinner, I was thinking of dessert (ok, not a fair example, I still ALWAYS think of dessert first!). I was always living in the next moment and quite frankly that can be very tiring! Kind of like a time traveler of sorts although nowhere as fun as hanging out with Dr. Who! So I would spend most of my day hopping back from the past to the future and back again. All the while moving through the present. Life is really about the journey - the bit in between A to B. That's the sweet spot!
I realize that most of my futuristic plans from the 1990's have helped to form my present life in January 5, 2010. Oh I sound all mad scientist there. Well, happy mad scientist!
I'm still a dreamer and still set lots and lots of goals. I am a huge believer in writing your thoughts down and recording all the amazing details of your perfect day, job, relationship....life! Just try it even for a few weeks. Then put list aside for a couple of weeks and then re-read it. Might just surprise you. Your subconscience is a lovely thing indeed. You'll see!
So today I chose to look around at my life. Here. Now. Not in one month or even one month ago but now. I'm smiling.
Until tomorrow, have a fabulous Tuesday. You know me, I'll be watching my favourite show Animal House Calls at 5:15pm on CP24 (kitten Jack's aunt is the host). You can watch encore presentations on their website cp24.com if you can't catch it LIVE.
Keep smiling and if you can't smile today, then try to grin a wee bit. You'll get there.
Linda
