If Not Now, When?

Hiya,

Here we are on the last Monday before the New Year.  Wow! These past few weeks have really flown by.  Some good, some not so good.  However, we're here now and that makes me smile.

Time for those New Years Resolutions.  That fascinating list that you write every year and then slowly cross off one item at a time.  Other goals are written on mental post-its that are conveniently moved from one month to the next.  We ALL do that one! However, here is the big question....

If not now, when?

I asked myself that question last April and then joined Weight Watchers.  I was 206 by that time and somehow this STILL wasn't a motivator.   Thought to myself, maybe I need to be 220 or 230 before I start taking better care of my body.  What motivated me FINALLY was the fact that nothing in my closet fit anymore (despite constantly buying bigger versions of the same clothes!), and I was always tired, even AFTER resting for 7 hours.

You can ask the question about your health, your relationship, your work situation, financial plans, etc.  A.ways good to be mindful of your life right now.  Not six months from now - where you've convinced yourself that you will be 25 lbs slimmer, have a 0 balance on your credit cards, AND be in that new job.  Whoa there, that's a LOT of change in a short period of time.  Now I'm not saying it won't happen BUT if you don't start taking those baby steps now, the only thing between today and six months from now will be time.

Even the smallest positive change can have a huge impact on your life when you add it up.  Trading that latte and muffin every workday morning for a low-fat yogurt and small coffee with milk, will put $1200 in your bank account and save you many extra lbs in a year.   That money would pay for a fabulous trip somewhere warm when the snow is falling.  Just saying!

Every action you have taken in this wacky thing we call life got you to the place you are today.  However, that doesn't mean you have to stay there if you would rather be somewhere else!  We'll talk!

Enjoy your Monday and keep warm!!  Cold weather warning here in Toronto but still no snow.  It is on the way though!!

Linda

      Hey Joanie,
That's great! Baby steps is the way to go (or Kitten Steps as I say here!)
Think of the cupcakes that you bake as gifts to others.  I am a baker so always imagine those who get the goodies as I don't want to take their treats.
You WILL have fun in Mexico next year and it will be so worth it.
