Sugar Plums Dance in My Tummy...er Head!.
Hey there,
A slushy Wednesday to you! The winter storm warning is over for Toronto and we kind of got snow/rain/slush. A typical downtownn winter! The rest of the province is really getting a winter wonderland though. Lucky P, N, and L postal codes...
This Sunday I will be doing my yearly Christmas baking though will not (REPEAT with ME, WILL NOT) be tasting every batch of cookies. Like I am some kind of royal taste tester - yeah more like ROYAL ICING tester *HIGH FIVES*
I will be making a gingerbread recipe from a very early Martha Stewart Christmas book (1989 to be exact). The cookies are always crispy enough but also chewy with a little kick of ginger. Then I ice the sleighbells out of them! With buttercream icing in various colours. Will leave about a half dozen plain for the purists out there but I tell you, this is some kind of buttercream icing. Sugar to the power of 1000!! Old Linda just cheered. I heard her.
When I was pre-WW, I used to make a selection of holiday treats and many DID NOT see December 25. Lots of baking rehearsals (well, one can never have enough Christmas cookies right? Right? Thank you to the jolly man in the red suit in the back.)
This year is the first on WW so my cookie creation is just limited to one session to be served on Christmas Day and some for the office. That's it. No more various holiday tins filled with sugary treats galore. Looked like I was part of a Christmas cookie exchange except only with me, myself, and I! The 3 of us were a very appreciative bunch!
So with almost 8 months of Weight Watchers behind me and smaller jeans on me, I am determined to enjoy the baking tradition without the need to wear the stretchy Santa pants. Sure I miss eating 8 cookies in a row (hey, it's still ME) but know that 2 is certainly a far healthier number for this gal.
Have a lovely and warm day (if it is snowy in your part of the world) and we'll get together on Thursday!
Linda

I'm proud of you. I'm working on myself to start WW. I have a birthday coming up next month, so I don't know if I want to wait until after it, or start now. I know the right answer, but I think I'm going with the wrong one.

You are so good. I tried ww once, but going out for chinese food after always sort of defeated the purpose. Looking back that probably wasn't the best choice. Now exercise is the thing for me, the only way I can do it is to shake it shake it! Though I admit to resisting the urge to bake it bake it! =) The Martha/Monkey cookies do sounddelightful though! =)
