Let it snow, let it snow, let it SNOW.....
Hello Gentle Reader,
Well today is FINALLY the day (or day BEFORE) Toronto gets the first real snowfall of the season. F*I*N*A*L*L*Y wOOT! So odd for us not to have snow by now - December 8. Very strange indeed. Of course many of my pals in American cities are experiencing snow days galore but nada here so far.
Probably have at least a few inches of the fluffy white stuff tomorrow morning. Nothing like the beautiful silence that comes with the first snowfall of the season. Especially in the city. It always makes me get into the Christmas spirit (yes, as IF I need encouragement!!)
You know, dreaming of a white Christmas and all that jazz. LOVE it! It makes everything sparkle and I love the crunchy sound underneath my snowboots. ACK! No more converse sneakers for a bit so boots it will be!
Here in Toronto we have only had a few days over the last 20 years where the snow actually shut down the city. You may remember that embarrassing moment when our previous Mayor felt the need to call in the Canadian military to dig us out. Toronto doesn't need any more reasons for the rest of the country to mock us!
I have lived in London, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta. Two places that really celebrate SNOW!! Very deep and difficult to get around but you do! A hop, a skip, and a jump. Always hoping someone else has ventured out before you so you can follow in their footsteps - literally! A fabulous workout too. Should be interesting this winter season with almost 50 less lbs to carry around!
I admit that having a snowless Christmas always makes me a bit sad. I love the snow mixed with Christmas lights, spruce trees, and all things red and green. A Christmas card wherever you look. If I see a cardinal in the snow then I am one happy gal!! Snowpeople make me smile and snow angels are adorable. Snow just makes many people smile.
Of course if you have to shovel or drive in it, well, that's another story!!
However me? Walking in a winter wonderland.....
Will let you know on Wednesday if we got that snowstorm after all!
Keep smiling.
Linda
