Silver Bells

Hey there,

How are you doing on this very chilly day in Toronto - minus something or other. In celsius OR fahrenheit, it is c-c-c-cold!!  My monkey hat will need a monkey hat.

Well here we are just 19 sleeps to Santa's arrival and you know what that means....CHRISTMAS music!!!!!!!!  I won't even tell you how many Christmas cds are in the house (ok, I will - about 34!) but you know me, that's just not enough Gentle Reader.  You see, I am a LEO and well if a Leo likes something then they have to have A LOT of it!  You can read that ANYWAY you'd like!

CHUM FM has started playing Christmas music *MWAH* and of course iTunes is all stocked up and ready to go.  The stores started playing their songs in early to mid November.  All quiet at first and then slowly getting louder.  As IF I couldn't hear it! HA!  I can always hear it.  Ho ho ho.....

Certain songs can always bring back a flood of memories - both wonderful and also sad and bittersweet.  Same for holiday tunes.  My all-time favourite Christmas music is pretty much the classics - Bing Crosby's "White Christmas", "It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas" by Perry Como, "Holly Jolly Christmas" by Burl Ives, and my BIG fave "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" by Andy Williams.  Remember how they ALL wore Christmas sweaters on those holiday specials? *swoon*

Also loved the Carpenters and their version "I'll Be Home for Christmas", "Happy Holiday" by Peggy Lee, and Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song."  Sigh.

I even play this music long before the holiday season (or is it long after?) - the weather is warm, that's all I know!  Makes me happy AND a bit teary-eyed.  My Grandma (Mom's Mom) was the one who did Christmas in the traditional Norman Rockwell way.  The full meal with roast turkey, stuffing (and LOTS of it), mashed potatoes and turkey gravy, three kinds of veggies, salad, tomato aspic (come on, we ALL had that growing up!), and for dessert - a variety of home-baked Christmas cookies, and two pies - mincemeat and pumpkin.  YUM!!  This was in Kitchener, Ontario.  My heart lives there.

Do you have a special Christmas song that sums up the season for you? What is it? I am always happy to add more tunes to my collection!!

Have a fabulous Saturday and here's to seeing each other on Sunday!

Linda
