Holiday Cuteness!

Hiya,

Happy Sunday to you! Did you think I forgot we were getting together today? Nevah!!

I was at the dollar store today to pick up some coffee filters and made a detour down the "Christmas Aisle" - O.M.Gumdrops!  I tell you, put a snowman on something, and I'm reaching for it like it is life itself.  A penguin wearing a plaid scarf, and I get weak in the knees.  A trio of kittens singing Christmas Carols....OH MY!   I am 48 years old - how the HECK did this happen?

Now every person who LOVES Christmas decorations has that one single theme that captures the holidays for them.  Some enjoy the decor look - gold or silver ornaments and lots of floral and greenery.  Lovely and VERY grown-up.  Others go for the entire white theme so everything looks like a beautiful winter wonderland.   Breathtaking.  Some like the natural look - boughs of holly and spruce branches every.  Oh so Canadian.

Me? I go for the cute stuff every single time. Every.single.time.  Cute characters in festive outfits, gingerbread men in red vests (well we can't have them WITHOUT clothes, this is a family-friendly Blog, folks!), and Santa, Santa, Santa!

Don't get me started on the singing Christmas tree.

Sigh.

We're not even at December 1 OR have had any sign of snow yet (oh boy!),  and I have endless Christmas tunes swirling in my head - along with those sugarplums and shortbread cookies.   Yet this Christmas is going to be very low-key for me and yet I am in the spirit all the more!

I am learning to appreciate all the fun of the season (including those adorable snowmen) but realize that I don't have to purchase and have them IN my home.  I can love 'em in the store or in the homes of pals.   Being in that dollar store was enjoyable but taught me a valuable lesson.  Having a huge collection of Christmas knick-knacks in my space won't make my holiday any better.  Just means more stuff to store in the locker later!   I've been spending the last few years downsizing my personal belongings and if I MUST have a new ornament or holiday item, the rule is that one has to be recycled or given away.   That way no extra storage space is needed!

Enjoy your Sunday and we'll chat again tomorrow!

Linda
