Living on the Edge

Hiya!

Here we are at the end of the week - HELLO WEEKEND!  Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving if you live south of the border.  Speaking of calories, and YES, that is the theme today...that slippery slope when it comes to food-themed events.

Last night I attended a wonderful art event at the Royal Ontario Museum called "Touched by Fire" - amazing artists, gorgeous artwork, and the food, OH MY, the food.  I was very strong during the first hour that those mini spring rolls, crab puffs, and baby pizzas seemed to circle around - just call me the Sun!

However, there was that glass of merlot....then it happened....

Suddenly I was reaching for all the tiny, never-ending taste treats that were around me.  Inhaling is probably the more accurate term here. Glass of red wine in one hand, camera around my neck, and the other hand happily scooping up all the two-bite goodies.  Justifying of course that this was REALLY dinner.  Then I started recommending them to pals as if I were the official taste tester for the event.   Always ask the WW gal where to get the best food.  We know Gentle Reader, we know.

Didn't end there though.....

Then I heard the angels sing from the heavens....

"Ladies and Gentlemen, we will be serving coffee and DESSERT soon..."

Out come those LOVELY people with the big platters of mini lemon tarts, blueberry cheesecake squares, chocolate brownies, and iced cupcakes.  Mix that with the wine and well let's just say pre-WW Linda had a good evening!

The thing about making healthier food choices is that one should be aware that you can slip at any time and go to the dark side.   I did last night but am back on track today.   So easy for me to become that sugar-loving gal again.  She is still here and ESPECIALLY this time of year.  Except there is one major difference - I have the knowledge from WW on which foods are better for me AND the amazing support of family friends.

I'll be just fine.

Have a wonderful Friday and we'll reconnect tomorrow.

Linda
