Colour Me Happy

Hiya and happy Wednesday to you!  Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate - whatever you want!

What's your favourite colour? Come on, you KNOW you have one!  Maybe when you were a kid it was yellow, like the sun, and as you got older you liked blue as in jeans.  Now it is black because it is sooo slimming (ok, black ISN'T technically a colour but hey, I do love it).

We all have colours that make us feel great, or look great or bring back fun memories.  Like that cherry red shirt you wore on your first date or  the purple flannel pjs that you always wear when you watch old movies with your kids.

Being a painter and a photographer, I'm addicted to colour. ALL colours!!  Ok, you're right, I AM partial to umm...lemon-lime green, better known as chartreuse!  I collect Fiesta Dinnerware purely on the fact that they come in 15 different colours (word to Homer Laughlin - the makers of Fiesta - fuchsia would be a fabulous addition - just saying!!)

Ok back to the rainbow...

You can totally change your mood by changing colours around you.  If you don't believe me, imagine the last time you walked into a room where the walls made you uneasy.  Maybe bright red in a bedroom (been there, done that - what the HECK was I thinking?!) or black glossy cupboards in the kitchen (ok for the record here, they were painted THAT colour when I moved in AND out!)  Now my kitchen cupboards are bright pink with indigo trim, chartreuse shelves, and white walls.  Bold enough for ya?

If you work in an office, you can brighten up your space for just a few dollars -- a beautiful gerbera flower (in a series of colours), a postcard of your favourite Impressionist painting, or a pen holder in a variety of colours or patterns.  You can easily take a dollar store pen holder and cover it with piece of your favourite fabric or wrapping paper.  I even buy pens in all kinds of colours - never dull when writing notes!

Seasonal colours see me coming a mile away! As you know, I am a huge collector of converse so nothing like mixing up the colours for the holiday season - green shoes with red laces (or one red and one white - peppermint!)  This Halloween had me in orange sneakers with black laces and if I can find pale pink laces for my purple shoes then look out Easter weekend!!!

Today, I want you to find something in your favourite colour and keep it around you all day.  Let me know what you think!

Have a great Wednesday and onward to Thursday!

Linda
