Focus

Hey there,

Tuesday already. Who'd a thunk it? Wild! (my High School English teacher is probably shaking her head. Sorry Ms. K!)

So, how was your Monday? Great I hope!!  Pretty good over here.

Hmmm....topic for today....topic...for...oh yeah FOCUS!

Being a photographer, it's all about the lens and being able to focus on your subject - both literally and creatively.  You need to know exactly what kind of shot you want to capture before you can take the photo.

Just like in life, you need to have your goals in mind before you can put that first foot forward.  Sure, you can change the direction of your journey at any time but you need a point of reference before you start!  As I said in yesterday's blog, you need to have a destination in mind before you buy a ticket at the airport.  Otherwise you could end up anywhere!

Now those who know me, I've never had the best ability to focus (oh YES, I hear the laughter now).  Like a kitten with a piece of string, or a crow and a shiny object, well that's all it takes!  What were we discussing again??? Joking!!

Back to focusing - much needed to live a mindful life. Being present means you're focused on the moment.  While it is still important to see the BIG PICTURE (yesterday's blog!), you also need to be aware of the details.  The clarity of where you want to go and who you want to be.  If you don't know then no one else is going to be able to tell you.  If they DO tell you, it won't be the BEST you that YOU can be (make sense?)  Plus we have all had well-meaning family and friends try to convince us that they know what is right for us.  Um....nope. Only YOU do.  Keeping a journal (even a dollar store notebook is good) helps you to see where you want to go.  Writing down all your thoughts - even if they don't appear obvious in the beginning will eventually become clear.

Keep your eye on Tuesday and Wednesday will eventually show up!
