The Big Picture

Great to see you here. How's your Sunday been so far? Fab I hope!

Lately I have been thinking about life goals and the bucket list and all the stuff you ponder about as you get older.   I turn 49 next year (yes, I can hear my Leo buddies yelling "yeah but NOT for 9 months!")  I like to be prepared.

Anyhoo, as I was saying....

The Big Picture - seeing your life not just in parts but as a whole, an aerial view.  Sometimes it is difficult to see beyond the day to day things - home, work, kids, pets, dating, marriage, divorce, and a combination of any of the above.
   Like one big buffet!

Sometimes you get so bogged down with the little stuff that your weeks fly by and you don't feel like you've made any progress.  Your hand is always in front of your face and you can't see down the road.   Seems like your to-do list is never ending and goes into a loop.  Before you know it, Monday is here and you get to pass GO and collect $200.

Your life plans can still include "get blue dress from cleaners" or "buy apple juice for school lunches" - that's all important and good.  However, to live a really fabulous BIG life, you need to add "plan for trip to Japan" and "join Weight Watchers" (sneaky huh? I always like to give a shout-out to the group that helped me!!)

You can set up your goals in various areas - home, work, financial, health, relationships (love), spiritual, and materialistic (yes, the stuff you can't live without).  Your list should have a couple of items listed for each area BUT keeping in mind, they are all connected.   You've heard of people doing 1, 5 and 10 year plans - all great but can be overwhelming.  I would start with a one year plan that you can expand upon.  Makes it easier to work towards when the time line is 12 months or less.  Then you can revise the list as the days and weeks go by.  Tweaking it here and there because we all know that life changes on it's own.

I like to keep my list in a journal and write my thoughts and goals in a continuous list.   Then checking off items in time, revising, and then having fun accomplishing each goal. Ok, maybe FUN isn't quite the word in all areas but it does feel amazing to reach your true desires rather than waiting for life to hand you something that you might not actually want.  True, that happens in life BUT the more goals you plan yourself (on paper!), the higher percentage that you will achieve them.

Always good to have a destination in mind before going to the airport.

See you tomorrow!

Linda
