iPod, youPod, wePod....
Hey again,
Welcome back to my little corner of the universe - yup ever-perky monkey is in da house! Coffee or tea? Comfy? Ok, let's go.
If you've visited before, you know that music plays a huge part in my life. H*U*G*E. Right up there with kitten Jack, endless coffee, and all things chartreuse!
My parents are big fans of Jazz, Blues, and R&B. I recall hearing Peggy Lee, Sarah Vaughn, and Louis Armstrong records as a child (early to mid 60's). Mom loved her Tom Jones, Englebert, and Glen Campbell albums. It's a wonder my name isn't "Delilah!"
My first EVER 45 was "Glow Worm" by the Chipmunks and the first record I purchased with my own money was "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" by Robert John. Still love both songs!!
You already know about the Helen Reddy years - got all the albums and now all are happily stored on my iPod.
Ah the iPod. A truly wonderful glorious invention! (THANK YOU APPLE!)
I had a Sony Walkman in 1985 and carted around this clunky red machine with my cassettes! Of course you could only listen to one album at a time but it was portable and oh so flashy! The batteries didn't last very long but that didn't matter. You didn't have to hang by the stereo on a sunny afternoon.
Then in 2002 I got a portable cd player from Target and it was chartreuse! Imagine that!!!
A few years later, a small MP3 player that could hold 35 songs - that's 2, count 'em, 2 albums. Bliss!!
A chartreuse Nano followed in 2005. Now I had hundreds of songs in my back pocket. COULD LIFE GET ANY BETTER?! Yes, Gentle Reader, it COULD!
For my birthday this year, I got the iPod Classic which holds (brace yourself) about 6,000 songs!!! ACK!!!! *faints* Also tv shows, movies (teeny movies mind you - even Freddy Kruger isn't too scary at 1.5 x 1.5 inches!) Music videos, photos, and podcasts.
I am in musical HEAVEN!
The one thing about the iPod that makes me laugh is that it allows to rate each song according to how much you like it. 5/5 being the best. That way you can supposedly "search" for your FAVE songs on your iPod.
Ok, here's the deal about this idea. VERY GOOD on paper, in reality, not so much.
I mean when you LOVE LOVE LOVE a song for the first time, naturally you're going to slap a gold star on that baby so 5/5 is the natural choice. Ok, I do that EVERY SINGLE TIME I add a song. So to-date, I have at least 500 songs that are all #1's! Nothing less than the BEST on Monkey's iPod. Good thing I don't work for Billboard. I'd have everyone with the top song in the country and that's a lot of Grammy Awards!!
What are your favourite songs right now? Me? "Fireflies" by Owl City (thanks Kitten Momma for pointing me towards this one!), "All the Right Moves" by OneRepublic, "I Got It" by Donnie Wahlberg, and the entire album "The E.N.D." by the Black Eyed Peas.
Have a fab Thursday and let's meet up again tomorrow!
Linda

Excuse me, but I'm afraid you couldn't have grown up in the 60's because you look too darn fine to be the age you must be. Nice try.
