Pushing past the comfort zone...
Hey there,
Hope you had a great Friday and are now enjoying a fabulous Saturday! My day yesterday was very challenging so let's just say I am much happier being here with you!
I have noticed that since the kitten has landed (Feb 1-09) that my photography has become very VERY comfortable. Prior to kitten Jack in my life, I actually went OUTSIDE (yes, TRULY!) and took photos of the city, urban gardens, store fronts, architecture, and all the little squirrels and chipmunks that scampered around me. Oh sure, I do that now and then - when Rhonda visited from MI during Pride Weekend, we had a blast photographing the parade and going to Graffiti Alley on Queen Street. Rhonda's photography is so creative and amazing that it inspires me to do the same. Fran (Franshine) was here last Friday and she too is an incredible artist, baker, musician, and singer. Had we more time and if it weren't pouring 24-7, we too would have hit the streets for photo fun.
So after 1000's of kitten photos (yes, 1000's), and with Autumn here, I will venture back outdoors to challenge myself to get past that comfort zone. A sampling of my photos are on my website www.chartreusemonkey.com and on Facebook. I do have some kitten photo shoots planned for November (not Sir Jack!) but will let my supermodel muse take a break as I get more familiar with my neighbourhood again.
What creative things do you do that have become a bit too comfortable? What things CAN you do to push yourself to that next level of growth? I want to hear about them!
Enjoy your day and I'll catch up with you again on Sunday!
Keep smiling.
Linda
